Jochen Pankrath

The nude plays a central role in Jochen Pankrath’s work, as he deals intensively with the human anatomy and its expressive possibilities. By depicting the naked body, Pankrath creates an intimate yet distanced atmosphere that encourages the viewer to reflect on the relationship between the body, identity and existence. His works combine classical techniques with a modern, often surreal aesthetic, which lends his works a timeless yet contemporary relevance. The nude serves not only as a motif, but also as a medium for exploring deeper questions of human existence.

With his work “Spektrum I”, the artist combines the surrealist element of the so-called “picture within a picture” and suggests the omnipresent complexity and multi-layered nature of human life and, above all, the individual with the geometric and colourful splitting of the background.
