Jochen Pankrath – Wo sich der Wald lichtet

On the occasion of Jochen Pankrath receiving the City of Fürth Cultural Award, Bode Galerie presents the exhibition “Where the Forest Opens Up,” featuring new watercolors on canvas by the artist.

At the heart of the exhibition is the forest as a multifaceted subject, situated between the observation of nature and subjective perception. In his works, Pankrath explores the interplay of light and shadow, proximity and distance, as well as the distinctive atmosphere of wooded landscapes. By applying watercolor techniques to canvas, he creates pictorial spaces in which representational depictions of nature merge with painterly abstraction. The forest becomes not only a landscape motif but also a place of individual perception and quiet contemplation.
