Richard Lindner, a German-American pop artist, created a series of works entitled “Marylin was here” in homage to the icon Marilyn Monroe. The series is characterised by Lindner’s signature style, which combines bold colours, geometric shapes and a surrealistic visual language. In these works, Marilyn Monroe is depicted not only as a glamorous Hollywood figure, but also as a symbol of seduction and the ambivalence of the American dream.
“Marylin was here” is therefore not only a tribute to a legend, but also a commentary on the transience of fame and the superficiality of pop culture.
