The “Edition Original I” is a portfolio published between 1962 and 1964 by Hans Möller via Hofhaus Presse in Düsseldorf. It includes works by important artists of the ZERO movement and Nouveau Réalisme, including Arman, Christo, Lucio Fontana, Heinz Mack, Otto Piene, Günther Uecker and Yves Klein. Yves Klein, who died in 1962, did not live to see the publication. His contribution to the portfolio consists of a three-part work with gold leaf and pigments, framed in transparent plastic foil and mounted on cardboard covered with gold leaf. As the works were created after his death, they do not bear his signature. The edition was produced in a total of 130 copies, 100 of which were intended for sale, while 30 served as artist and publisher copies. Individual portfolios have appeared in art auctions and have fetched high prices in some cases. This portfolio is considered an important testimony to the avant-garde art of the 1960s and illustrates the close collaboration between artists of the ZERO movement and Nouveau Réalisme.
