Dürer rabbit in 12 different colors - Ottmar Hörl

Albrecht Durer has created with his aquarelles “The Young Hare” and “The Great Piece of Turf” two of the most important paintings for the further history of art. In the years 2002 and 2003 these two artworks celebrated their 500th birthday. This was the reason for Ottmar Hörl to realize an installation on Nurembergs Hauptmarkt with 7.000 green hares. He conflated the two paintings into a sculpture. In this way he has changed the artistic genre from painting into sculpture what broadens the artistic context. Durer’s aquarelle “The Young Hare” is not stored in Nuremberg but it is part of the collection of the Albertina Museum in Vienna/Austria and. With his 7.000 hares Ottmar Hörl brought the hare back to Nuremberg in a symbolic manner.

Sculpture produced using the centrifugal casting process, with embossed signature and UV-protective coating. In 12 different colors.
