White Night 1 - Bona Koo
In “White Night I”, Bona Koo explores the relationship between nature and civilization under the influence of time. Her work examines how human-made structures fade, are transformed by natural processes and give rise to new connections. Across the light surface of traditional Korean Hanji paper, star- and flower-like formations, crystalline structures, branching shapes and jagged mountain forms emerge, resisting any clear association with recognizable reality. Some appear like natural discoveries, while others seem entirely imagined. Together, they form a landscape in which different periods and states of existence coexist. The composition avoids a fixed spatial or temporal order, opening up multiple possibilities for perception and interpretation.
