Yves Klein (1928-1962) was a French artist and pioneer of the avant-garde, known for his monochrome paintings and the development of “International Klein Blue” (IKB), a deep ultramarine blue. He was a central figure of Nouveau Réalisme and influenced the ZERO movement. In addition to painting, his art also included performance, sculpture and concepts of immateriality, for example through “invisible works”. Despite his early death at the age of 34, Klein left behind a significant legacy that had a lasting impact on modern art.
