Stefan Szczesny – Works on Paper

Stefan Szczesny, born in Munich in 1951, is one of the leading figures in contemporary figurative painting. As a central figure of the “Junge Wilde” movement, he made a conscious stand against the dominance of abstraction and conceptual art in the late 1970s and played a decisive role in the rediscovery of an expressive, representational visual language. Formative stays in Paris, New York, Rome, and especially in the South of France and the Caribbean permanently expanded his artistic universe and are still reflected today in the unmistakable atmosphere of his works.
