The sculpture „Daphne II“ is out of Dietrich Klinges current work cycle around the mythological figure of Daphne. She is the female part of Ovid‘s „Apoll and Daphne“, a story in his famous book of metamorphosis. The „Daphne II“ is not like Ovid’s Daphne. She is self-confident and stands strong with big safety and equilibrium. In this sense the beholder may understand the suffix „Kore“. A kore is a female sculpture out of the archaic Greek architecture. In her elaborated form she is a kind of column.
