Untitled (Star) - Richard Lindner

Richard Lindner

Richard Lindner was born in Hamburg in 1901. After studying at the School of Arts and Crafts in Nuremberg, he emigrated to the USA in the early 1940s. It was in New York that the German-American artist found his inspiration and developed his love for the city. He was fascinated by life in the big city, although he always perceived himself as a stranger and distant observer. He found the motifs for his works on the streets: neon signs, advertisements, department stores, passers-by. Richard Lindner is considered the founder of Pop Art and one of the most important artists of the 20th century.
