The nude between figure and expression

The nude and the human being

In its diversity, the nude is in no way inferior to any subject in art history – artists have been searching for centuries for ways to depict humanity. The body itself can hardly be detached from its immanent role in our world – whether socially, politically or aesthetically – and thus offers an image not only of the body but also of humanity itself over the most diverse periods. From the questions, solutions or conflicts that humankind has faced since then, art shows us an image of ourselves. In its initially obvious revelation, the nude initially allows associations of fragility, and yet this motif in particular seems to be an image of determination.
